A crowdfunding was launched between March 26 and April 23, 2019.
A total of € 42,262 obtained with more than 678 contributors.
The burial of Georges Méliès is located in the most visited cemetery in the world: 3.5 million visitors each year. From 1938, the year George was buried, to 1954, the year his bust was installed, sculpted by Renato Carvillani, his burial has never been restored. Little by little, the verdigris of the bust invaded the tomb, the porous stone degraded, the cast iron posts exploded the stone and fell. The chains surrounding the grave were stolen a long time ago.
We will once again be able to highlight one of the only places where cinema lovers can continue to visit it and show it their gratitude by leaving letters and small attentions.
